Barack Obama has claimed from day one to be a different kind of candidate. He's claimed to want to cut through the bull. He's claimed to have the country's best interest at heart. He's claimed to be honest and have integrity. This week he threw that all out the window and became, as I've personally seen him from day one, just another politician. After a year of saying the acceptance of public funding for his campaign would show how much he wants to change politics, he has declined public funding and even attacked the program! He is now free to spend as much money as he wants.
On the other side, McCain will accept public funding and will respect the system that Obama is now rejecting. As McCain said this week: "This election is about a lot of things. It's also about trust. It's about keeping your word." Obama would have agreed with McCain, until this week.
Thank heavens, many are expressing the same thing I've been saying for months: This guy is just like everyone else in DC - he just wants power.
Obama chose winning over his word - Panel attacks Obama for abandoning his word - Obama's reputation tarnished
