I've enjoyed watching some of the debate in recent weeks about the liberal slant to the news media. People have been accurately revealing the slant for years, but the slant has never been this bad. According to the bipartisan Center for Media and Public Affairs, there were 167 mid-term election stories on the ABC, CBS and NBC evening news from Sept. 5 to Oct. 22. Of all of the stories about Democrats, 77 percent were favorable. Of all of the stories about Republicans, 88 percent were unfavorable.
Some might say it was because of the Mark Foley scandal, and that's definitely true. But, the networks aired 59 stories on that one issue, which was 24 more than all the mid-term election stories the three networks aired in 2002. It's clear that the "Big Three" networks are laser-focused on having an effect in this election, as they failed to deliver gains for the Democrats in 2002.
Interestingly, according to the study, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), one of the most popular Democrats in Washington, was featured in 10 stories, even though HE'S NOT RUNNING this year!
I particularly liked Lynne Cheney's lambasting of Wolf Blitzer and her unabashed attack on the liberal slant in the news media (above). It's about time conservatives started going after the faces in the news and holding them accountable for their slanted reporting.
