I must say, I was actually pleased with the election outcome last night. While Rick Santorum has a record of reaching across the aisle to get things done, he also has a record of slapping the other side's hands and yelling at them. He's a firebrand who agitates the hell out of the left, and it's best that he's gone. Other conservative Republicans were ousted, and Bill Frist didn't run. This is not a bad thing!
For the Dems, it was interesting to hear the descriptions that CNN and Fox News were offering about their Congressional candidates who won formerly Republican seats. Many of them "are pro-life," "look like a Republican," and "are conservative on many issues." While Nazi Nancy Pelosi will be the Speaker of the House, many of her new minions (like former NFL quarterback Heath Shuler) will see eye-to-eye better with many Republicans than with her.
Look no further than the Senate race in Connecticut. Ned Lamont was the Democrat nominee and the darling of the liberal wing of the Democrat Party, propped up by many liberal bloggers. But he was beaten by more-conservative Democrat-turned-Independent Joe Lieberman, who won thanks to the support of the Republicans.
The Republican who won big last night? California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. A year ago, a friend of mine in California, who is very politically minded, told me that Schwarzenegger had "no chance" of re-election. Over the last 12 months, the governor moved toward the middle, reaching out to Democrats and actually wooing some Hollywood-types. He offered the blueprint for future Republican success.
After six years in which many Democrats and Republicans, along with the news media, tried to drive a wedge between people in this country, it was very nice to see Americans pull them all back toward the middle last night.
Regardless of whatever humor you might find in your "joke", I don't think it is at all helpful to start calling people nasty names. I thought that you felt the same way; clearly you do not. I'm done with your blog.

Yes it is. The PC Police want to ban us from saying certain terms, and I just won't buy into it. We'll see if she continues to earn the nickname, but so far she's talking some pretty tough talk.
