Equality Forum named 31 gay leaders, one for each day in October (Gay History Month). To find the leaders, they called on leaders across states and countries
for nominations, asking for names of people living or dead who
"distinguished themselves within their field of endeavor, national
heroes, or in the GLBT civil rights movement." The list includes Elton John, Sheryl Swoopes, Ellen DeGeneres and Walt Whitman.
Interestingly left off the list was Rosie O'Donnell. Maybe even more oddly (thought nicely) included was Lowell Selvin (left), the founder of Planetout Inc. I like Lowell very much, and he's obviously a smart guy. It's nice to see behind-the-scenes people like Lowell get recognized for their hard work. While having faces like Rosie and Ellen is great, having people like Lowell making progress in business be recognized is great.
