Dan and I are headed home for Christmas on Thursday. I can't wait. While he has met several members of my extended family before - grandparents and an uncle or two - he's never been to a "family event."
Every Christmas Eve, all of my mom's brothers and sisters and my cousins on her side get together at my grandparents' house for a party. Well, it's not really a party - more of a "stand around and talk about nothing." My family isn't a bad family - they're actually very caring. It's just that most of them aren't very fun. I guess there are worse things to be in life than boring. But, to go home to that over the holidays - yikes.
I'm hoping to spice up Christmas Eve with Dan a little bit. He's the best guy in the world. Seriously. So thoughtful, so nice, so fun. I imagine we'll be the talk of the "stand around and talk about nothing." The family hasn't really had a gay person at a big family gathering before. Well, not openly gay, anyway.
I expect nothing less than a friendly welcome. I can't imagine anyone in my family behaving badly to Dan. Even the uber-Christians. In fact, I'd expect them to be nicer than anyone. I actually can't wait. Should be interesting to say the least.
I'm really enjoying the design and layout of your blog. It's a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more pleasant for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a designer to create your theme? Superb work!
