Nervous about Brokeback Mountain
I have a looooong history of getting super excited to see a movie, only to be crushed upon seeing it. Godzilla falls into that category. Pearl Harbor. Few movies that I have gotten super excited about have lived up to my expectations. The entire Lord of the Rings trilogy is the exception to the rule.
I am so excited to see Brokeback Mountain Friday at 8:15pm at Chelsea Clearview Cinemas that I'm literally counting the hours (55 upon writing this). And that worries me. It's a small movie with gorgeous vistas and, from what I hear, a depressing ending. It's getting an 81 right now on Rotten Tomatoes, and a couple of the negative comments scare me. I can only imagine that, if it was a straight love story, it would be somewhere in the 60s.
Very nervous indeed.

Same here. In an attempt to persuade some of my slightly homophobic pals to come watch it with me, I've mentioned the positive buzz and awards it's already received ... I'm a big fan of the short story the movie is based on, so my expectations are probably too high. If that proves to be the case ... well, King Kong's just around the corner.
